What a rockin’ day we had here at Oakvale Wines Saturday 23rd August! The first ever 50’s Rhymes in the Vines started off with a bang!
We had all types of cars – all different colours, makes and models plus a great mix people come along for the day as well. There were a fusion of car die-hard fan, the rockabilly dancers and the curious visitors who heard the noise coming from Oakvale and came to check it out! Over the day we had 2,500 people attend our event.
‘Car of the Day’ trophy went to Steve Taylor of Sydney with his white 1957 Chev. Steve and his traveling companions were so excited with his win they celebrated all weekend! Steve has already announced that they will be returning next year to congratulate the next ‘Car of the Day’ winner for 2009!
Our very own ‘Lady Verdelho’ Vanessa was on hand to judge the ’Vivo Fashion’ Best Dressed Guy and Gal - our winners were Andrew Russell and Emmy Lou. Both looked fantastic!!
We almost lost a few stallholders in the early morning while setting up. The winds picked up and we almost lost our lovely hair and make up ladies Boogie Bop Dames to the neighbouring winery! There was a great mix of stallholders featuring Hunter renown olive oils, organic fruits and nuts and we also had a great mix of 50’s Retro and rock clothing.
Thanks again for everyone who braved the uncertain weather and came along for the day! We hope you had a fantastic time just like we did. The preparations for next year have already started—so make sure you come along for 50’s Rhymes in the Vines 2009!!
