Oakvale Gold Rock Shiraz

Vintage 2008

This Shiraz shows intense berry fruit and liquorice aromas with a touch of spice and regional earthiness. The palate is rich and full with firm tannin structure and long finish.

Gold Rock Shiraz is a wine ideal with food especially with Pizza, BBQ meats, rich pasta & smoked meats.

Winemaking

The Shiraz grapes were machine harvested in the cool of the early morning. At the winery, they were crushed and destemmed, before transferral into stainless steel fermentation vessels where the fermentation with an added yeast culture took place. Temperatures of all ferments were controlled depending on the final style desired. Pressing of the grapes took place after fermentation, with a portion of the wine going into barrels for 10 months maturation. Bottling took place after 12 months.
