This wine is rich and full-bodied with good intensity on the nose and palate. Complex aromas of black forest fruit, sweet spice and subtle regional earthiness meld well with integrated, vanillin oak. The palate delivers all that the nose promises with generous tannins, acid balance and good length. Drink now or put down for up to 10 years.
Peppercorn Shiraz is a wine ideal with food especially with Roast beef, favourite steak and sauce combo.
The Shiraz grapes were machine harvested from selected rows of vines that were bunch thinned down to 1.5 tonnes per acre (all in the name of quality enhancement). At the winery, they were crushed and de-stemmed, before transferral into open fermentation vessels where fermentation with an added yeast culture took place. Fermentation progressed with daily, manual plunging and temperature control. Pressing of the grapes took place after fermentation, with all wine being transferred into French and American oak barrels for over 14 months maturation. Bottling followed final filtration.

“…Oakvale Peppercorn Shiraz 2000… offers an amazingly intense yet still very fine interpretation of the Hunter Valley shiraz style. It was made from dry grown, old shiraz vines on the Oakvale vineyard…”
